七星潭包車自由行又稱月牙灣，位於臺灣花蓮縣新城鄉大漢村、花蓮市北郊、空軍花蓮基地東側。七星潭是花蓮縣唯一的縣級風景區，連接太魯閣國家公園、東海岸和花東縱谷國家風景區。雖被稱為「潭」，卻是一個由大大小小的礫石所鋪陳的弧形海灣。早年有零星湖泊散布，七星潭原本在花蓮機場附近，後來因1936年日本人要在七星潭上建設，而需要把七星潭填實（其實並沒有把整個七星潭填滿），所以將原本居住在七星潭的居民搬到月牙灣，那些被日本人遷移的七星潭居民在月牙灣自稱是七星潭人，故把月牙灣叫成七星潭，所以當遊客到七星潭其實是一處太平洋的一個灣，並非潭或湖泊。若要找原本的七星潭潭水的話，遺留下來的七星潭殘湖在國立東華大學美崙校區中的涵翠湖，和空軍花蓮基地內的兩個小池塘，就是七星潭遺留下來的殘湖。據說夜晚天氣好的時候，由於沒有光害之故，可以在海邊清楚地觀賞天空上的北斗七星，故當地人稱之為七星潭。七星潭就是習稱的月牙灣，昔日是小漁村，同時也是花蓮定置漁業發達興盛之地，原因係當地海域缺乏天然灣澳，然而因黑潮流過台灣東部，帶來各種迴游的魚類資源，加上中央山脈的山腳緊迫於海濱，沿岸的流水深且急，近海魚群在此匯集成天然漁場之故。近年來，花蓮縣政府於當地興建石雕園區、賞星廣場、觀日樓、兒童遊樂場、港濱自行車道等休憩設施、在漁場附近設有海岸生態的解說牌，並且利用防風林區闢建德燕海濱植物園區，加上附近動植物生態非常豐富，已成為花蓮縣境內著名的休憩景點。Chihsingtan beachIt is also called Crescent Bay. It is at Hualien Shincheng county, Dahan village and the northern Hualien. It is in the east of Air Force Hualien Base. Connect to the Taroko national park, the east coast and the East Rift Valley National Scenic Area. Though this is called lake, but it is a bay with gravel. In the early age, there were some lakes near here, but when1936 Japanese need to fill the lake, so they moved the origin residents in Chihsintan Beach to Crescent Bay. And those people called themselves as Crescent Bay people, so it was how the Crescent bay’s name from. Actually, Chihsintan is a part of pacific ocean, not a lake. It is said that when the weather is nice and clear, you can see the big Dipper, so in Chinese Chihsin means “seven stars”. Chihsintan was a small fishing village and the foundation of fishing industry.
