Chives (the common name of Allium schoenoprasum, also known by the Chinese name “ Hao Jiu ” ) are common vegetables and nutrient-rich foods. “ Taiwan Hao Jiu ” , the best wine (alc. 16% vol.) with wonderful taste, is brewed from chives locally in Yilan County with the water from Xueshan (also known as Hsuehshan or Snow Mountain; the second highest mountain in Taiwan).
