馬太鞍濕地生態園區位於花蓮光復鄉馬錫山腳下，依傍中央山脈，三面環山，是一處天然的沼澤濕地，佔地面積近百公頃。
馬太鞍「VATAAN」是當地阿美族對樹豆的稱呼，這種樹豆阿美族人將其視為吉祥物，隨身攜帶，到處播種，馬太鞍這一帶即以「長滿樹豆的地方」而得名。
經過羊腸小徑，在欣綠農園入口處可見一大招牌「來去蓮荷國」，沿著木棧道走進去，眼前畫面令人驚豔。遠方山巒層層疊疊，清澈的芙登溪由南向北蜿蜒穿流整個濕地，和源源不絕的伏流湧泉，共同營造出豐富多樣的生態環境，滋養這片沼澤豐美的生命。園區裡多達近百種水生植物，其中開著黃色小花的台灣萍蓬草可是台灣特有種；而鳥類、蛙類、豆娘與蜻蜓，及水中魚蝦貝類的種類與數量，更是多得令人驚喜。
近年來，馬太鞍濕地更以栽種夏季景觀蓮花田聞名；盛夏時，荷葉連天，荷花怒放，吸引許多人前來，遊客可沿著木棧道，近距離欣賞蓮花之美。

Matai’an Wetland Ecological Park

The Mataian Wetland Ecological Park Area is located at the foot of Masi Mountain in Hualien County's Guangfu Township. The springs of this natural wetland flow unceasingly. The Mataian Wetland Ecological Park is the traditional homeland of the Mataian Ami people. In past times, due to the abundance of pigeon peas, the Ami people named this area "Vataan", which means "pigeon peas" in the Ami language. The name "Mataian" evolved from the name "Vataan". On these wetlands, the Ami tribe developed their unique "Palakaw" ecological fishing method. In 1991, Hualien County Farmer's Association set up a specialized area in the Mataian Wetland Ecological Park to promote the cultivation of Hualien County's county flower, namely, the lotus. In the past more than ten years, lotus cultivation area has increased yearly from the original five hectares that it occupied. The time to come and enjoy these flowers is from May to August of each year. Strolling leisurely along a "T" shaped wooden footpath, one can enjoy the romantic feeling that comes from standing in a sea of lotus. There is a good view of the entire Mataian Wetland Ecological Park from the lookout post. Visitors who enjoy cycling can try out the Mataian Wetland Bicycle Path, where they will experience a trip that is full of natural wonders.
