It was called Chitou Forest Recreation Area, in the south-west of Lugu Township, Nantou County. The name is from its local name Xitou. But now when we talk about Xitou, we mean Xitou nature education area. It is the most representative place of Xitou. Now it is managed my National Taiwan University. There is a college pond, red building, ginkgo building, and exhibition hall of ecology. Thousand yeas of the tree was dead on 2016, Sep.11th. There were many forest trail and sky hall way in the forest, even the Mt. Phenix Observatory and the Xitou weather station are here.
