南庄的礦業文化曾於四、五十年代盛極一時，但至今早已沒落，返鄉回到南庄的異鄉遊子陳桂文先生，投入巨額資金及十多年歲月，與家人共同攜手築夢， 在原有的礦場基礎架構上規劃設計出礦坑實景，透過路線解說步道導覽，並配合礦場週邊產品及鄉土教學示範，讓現代人，能夠輕鬆尋訪南庄早年礦業文化遺 跡，將礦業開採的整體流程，完整的呈現在世人眼前。
南庄【巴巴坑道休閒礦場】正依照陳桂文先生的規劃，一步步朝向規模更大，除了現有的生態、餐飲、礦坑體驗、礦坑導覽及礦業文化館外，將來更計畫擴大服務內容，興建特色民宿，以滿足前來享受南庄在地風情的各地朋友，藉以帶動南庄地方產業發展，提供鄉親就業機會，將南庄拓展為國際觀光旅遊景點楷模。

南庄老街
位於台灣苗栗縣南庄鄉鄉治所在地南庄聚落，當地居民以客家族群為主。具有濃濃的客家懷舊風味，每到假日，總是吸引眾多遊客造訪。主要的景點有永昌宮、老郵局、乃木崎、桂花巷及洗衫坑等。
傳統的老街範圍以中正路為主，兩旁商家林立。由於南庄曾經在1935年的關刀山大地震中受創嚴重，其後委由日本人規畫重建工程，造就了今日中正路兩旁多屬兩層樓日式木造建築的景觀。
桂花巷原本只是中正路一條小巷口麵店的名號，透過地方政府及當地業者的刻意營造，該巷及鄰近地區已成為遠近馳名的「桂花巷社區」，逐漸取代中正路而成為旅客所熟悉的南庄老街。
老街的主要小吃有客家粄食、客家菜、桂花釀、蛋捲等。
Nanjuhuang Old Street
It is at Nanjuhuang township, Miaoli county. The residents are mostly Hakka people. It is full of traditional Hakka style in this place. On weekends, there are always packs of tourists in this place. there are some must-see here, YoungChung temple, old post office, Naimaki, Osmanthus Alley and Shie-San-Kung.
The origin old street was mainly on Zhongzheng Road. The stalls are on the both sides of the road. Due to the 1953, Guanshan Earthquake, this place was severe damaged. Japanese reconstruction this place. That is the reason why you can see the wooden building in Japanese style. Osmanthus Alley was an noodles store’s name. Since the government and local operator give the name for this community, so this place is now known as Osmanthus Alley instead of Nanjuhuang Old Street. There are some must eat in this area. Which are Hakka needles, Hakka dish, The Sweet-Osmanthus Brew and the egg rolls.
